GO-ESSP 2011 Workshop May 10th - 11th Asheville, North Carolina |

The ninth Global Organization for Earth System Science Portals (GO-ESSP) workshop is being hosted by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) in Asheville, North Carolina. Dates for the workshop are the 10th-11th May, 2011, with an Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) meeting on Monday the 9th of May, and a CF governance meeting on Thursday, May 12th. The agenda for the workshop is being developed; more details will be posted in the near future. The primary venue is the Marriott's Renaissance Asheville Hotel located in downtown Asheville. A block of rooms has been set aside at the Renaissance hotel for workshop attendees. Please reserve your room at the Renaissance as soon as you can to ensure your stay at this hotel. Two other meetings will be taking place and co-located with the GO-ESSP 2011 Workshop in order to take advantage of the confluence of individuals: an Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) meeting on Monday the 9th of May, and a CF governanace meeting on the afternoon of Thursday, May 12th. Information regarding those meetings will be distributed through their separate channels. LocationThe National Climatic Data Center, located in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, is hosting the ninth GO-ESSP workshop. TransportationAirportsThe closest airport to Asheville is the Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), only 15 miles away. The next two closest airports are Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), 78 miles away from Asheville, and Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), 124 miles away. All three airports serve several major US airlines. RailwayWhile Amtrak does not service Asheville, there are Amtrak stations in the region. LodgingFourty guest rooms have been set aside at the Marriott's Renaissance Asheville Hotel for workshop attendees. All fourty rooms are available at the US government per diem rate of $81 per day. Adding the tax of $9.52 for each day makes the government per diem rooms $90.52 per day with tax. Please reserve your room at the Renaissance as soon as you can to ensure your stay at this hotel.
